  4. Omar Says:

This goes to show the power we all have as people. Simple as just a video camera and youtube. Get em Grins! you have my support, let me know what you need!

  5. Ellis Says:

    4th time!!!!
So sick of this crap in our parking lot.
    Annapolis Times is on watch!

  6. Timm Says:

Thank you for the support Omar. If you can forward it to people you know that may be interested in seeing what a community can do to battle back when companies think its okay to pick on those they think can’t speak for themselves.

  7. Carlos Says:

Clay Street is an African American enclave. Annapolis Times is an African American publication. This is black on black crime. They should really be ashamed of themselves, its actions like this dumping that make it appear obvious they don’t care about the people they supposedly speak for in their newspaper. I would go after their pockets, call their advertisers. Show them the video, let them know that the paper they are supporting with their advertising budgets is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

  8. Andrew Cole Says:

Boy, talk about screwing up your carbon footprint! How come they just can’t take them to a recycling center?

  9. Timm Says:

Thank you all again for your support of what is now being looked upon by the City of Annapolis for possible actions.

We will be calling the Annapolis Times/Baltimore Times CEO, Joyce Bramble later today to demand a full clean up, formal public apology, and a public affirmation that this NEVER happens again.

    Peace and Respect,
    Grins

  10. Chris Finan Says:

Enough is enough! The Annapolis Times needs to clean up their act and it should be made public knowledge in respect to how they view their own neighborhoods. Would this have happened in a nice, cleaned up and predominantly “white” neighborhood. I don’t think so!! The mixed neighborhood of Clay Street has been attempting to turn things around and the last thing that this neighborhood needs is their own local businesses dumping garbage in their parking lots. This is unacceptable and needs to stop….NOW!!!!!

  11. Bob, West Washington St. Says:

Hard to clean-up when The ANNAPOLIS TIMES dumps It’s trash on us!

Okay party people, a quick update…

Yesterday, I was contacted by several media outlets requesting information. Here is the detail that I have provided them.

-this is the 3rd seperate incident that I myself have had to reach out to the Annapolis Times through their Baltimore office to let them know that they had left hundreds of newspapers to rot in our neighborhood
-that i had spoken in the past with Mr. Freddie Howard at the Baltimore Times and it was only when I got in touch with Mr. Howard did anything get done, however this would require several phone calls into the Baltimore Times headquarters before we got the cleaning done.
-that we were not going to take down the video unless we were given a full public apology and a public statement that this would never happen again

Then at approximately 2pm yesterday I called The Annapolis Times at their Baltimore headquarters and asked for Joy Bramble, the CEO. I was informed that Joy was not in, and would not be back until Wednesday at the earliest. I left a message on Joy’s voicemail figuring, she checks in at least once a day for her messages. I also called back and attempted to leave a message with the assistant. I WAS HUNG UP ON BY HER!!!!

So, I called again and this time spoke with a different secretary, who dutifully took my information and listened to the complaint.

Around 430pm yesterday afternoon I receieved a phone call from a woman named Dena Wade who explained to me the papers were being cleaned up (which they now have been). She said that the paper has had distribution problems. I explained to her that this was the same story that we have receieved in the past and nothing has changed. I informed her that the video had now been seen 1200 times. To which she responded “oh my god”.

Now, as the conversation wore on she maintained a position that the paper’s distributor was to blame. The distributor is a paid employee of The Baltimore Times operation. She also let on that they had known the papers were sitting idle in that lot since LAST THURSDAY!!!

At the end of the conversation she said that she would be in touch with the CEO and that if I wanted to call back next week to check in that would be fine. WHAT???? IF I WANTED TO CALL BACK????

That really is what got me realizing that this paper truly DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SITUATION!!! The smugness that I have been met with on every turn during my 3 encounters with employees at the paper was unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. The fact that they wanted me to call back and check on them when IT IS THEIR IMAGE THAT HAS BEEN TARNISHED HERE!!! Other smug comments I was hit with were along the lines of “oh its just a few papers” and “so nice that you care”. That’s just to name a couple.

The paper sells ad space to people and businesses based on circulation. That circulation occurs through their distribution network. Now, here’s my question. Do you think that Clay Street is ONLY place in their distribution system is malfunctioning? REPEATEDLY? There is a strong likelihood that there are more.

If I was paying for ad space and I was to discover that these papers were not being distributed I would be a little unhappy and in these lean economic times I may be less likely to continue to pay for advertising that is not actually getting done.

    The saga continues…

Thank you again to all of you for your support, please continue to let anyone you think should know about this know about it.

    Peace.

    Another update…

So the papers were removed but, NOT BY THE ANNAPOLIS TIMES. Instead the papers were removed by The City of Annapolis Dept of Public Works and the bill for the removal has been sent to the Baltimore Times.

We are still waiting on the public apology and public statement that this will never happen again from the Annapolis Times.

If you would like to view the video on the big screen we will be showing it on all the screens at our rooftop party on Friday night at Jerry’s Seafood, which is located at 169 West Street in Annapolis, 21401…it will be in rotation from 10pm till 2am!

Come thru its a FREE party.

  15. Kevin Says:

At a time when newspapers are faltering into olblivion, you would think that they would be doing all they can to stay alive. This type of disregard for everything “green” is astonishing and unacceptable.

  16. Monica Says:

You said it best in one word Timmy Grins “HORRIBLE”!

Its great to see that they are being billed for the trash pick up, I would have hated to have learned that we as taxpayers of Annapolis would be paying for their garbage.

    Good job Timmy.

  17. deebo Says:

man quit playing! how is this going to happen? really? i mean really? come on! Annapolis Times needs to just shut its doors really nobody reads that paper anyway, weak excuse for a paper!

  18. Chris Says:

Good Job Timmy. Ive been passing this along everywhere I go. I have also emailed a lot of local MD news sites and tv news.

    Keep Fighting The Good Fight.

  19. Timm Says:

    Ladies and Gents…more progress

Check out the article by Alisha Sauers from The Capital, she did some investigative reporting on the situation…

We still don’t have our public apology. Right now I am sure they can’t stand us, so with that in mind, I highly doubt they are going to apologize to us directly. However, maybe they will in their newspaper. Be sure that we will stay on them to be sure they do. What’s right is right.

    Peace
    Grins
