And a damn thing has changed…

PROGRESS…

I have had some time to reflect the last few weeks, as I have been in solitude a bit while in pursuit of a few life goals.   In doing so, taking the proverbial step back, the view from 30,000 feet…okay you got it already…

We have a team back here that is actively engaged and not into the BS.

And a damn thing has certainly changed.   When I first moved in the entreprenuers roamed freely in our nook of the hood.  That does not happen anymore.   When I first moved in addicts wandered and chose to partake in their own life pursuits in front of people’s windows, that doesn’t happen anymore.  When I first moved in drug buyers would use our court as a place to meet their preferred vendors, that doesn’t happen anymore.  When I first moved in trees were dying and casting dark shadows on our parking area making it easier for the entreprenuers to move catlike and avoid the long arm of the law, they are gone.  When I first moved in our parking lot was falling apart, that is renewed.

This has been a team effort.

I will not mention names because not everyone wants to be known for what they do or how they do it.  It should be known this is a team effort.  Many times in the popular media I am cast as this character who pushes the envelope, and while that may be true, rest assured I am not alone.  Not by any stretch.  The squad runs deep.  Deeper than most on the other side of the equation realize.  People who are close to the entreprenuers are the strongest proponents of the takeback of the neighborhood.

This past week the Town Pine Court community has begun to see the fruits of its labors on the city front as well.   Here is where I can give some shoutouts because it is with great thanks to Theresa Wellman and Angela Frantom in Planning and Zoning we have been able to be recipient of a legacy grant.  This legacy grant is giving our proud neighborhood a facelift.  Notice I said proud.  People are starting to feel that way.  Get up stand up, stand up for your right.  The grant literally paved our neighborhood over, removed trees, and has much more to come.  This week exterior renovations have begun on all 22 rowhomes in our community, 59 Clay Street is complete if you all want to ride by and see what its going to look like when all is complete.  Or you can wait till the month of September when things are looking proper all around the hood.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please put your hands together for the good people of Clay Street, the emerging market of Annapolis.

Peace and respect goes out to all my partners in the struggle you know who you are…THANK YOU.
