The Old Fourth Ward statue
Have you seen it? I’ve got a picture of it and I am going to try to get it up on the site but, it came out pretty dark. Plus the joint is HUGE, its hard to fit in the camera lens. Oh and real quick, yes we do walk on Clay Street when its dark! If anyone has a good picture of the statue please email it to me or post it on the site. I’ll do a thorough write up once I’ve got the picture to correspond to it. If you haven’t seen it drive by the corner of West Washington Street and West Street and you will see it in all its 10 foot tall glory, the Old Fourth Ward – the Harlem of Annapolis.
Speaking of pictures, I met with the photographer the other night, she is very excited about the project and is in the process of drawing up a proposal for us to review. I walked her through the neighborhood, at night again-it is not a war zone here, and she got a chance to meet a few people. Again the basic premise is to create a living history of the neighborhood. She is going to photograph anyone who wants to have their picture taken and whereever they choose. From there she is asking that people write a bit about themselves, either a paragraph or two, a poem, a saying that describes you…think High School yearbook on steroids.
Aight, so we will be kicking that off in the next few weeks, we are currently looking for a few volunteers to come through and help organize people, when and where they want to have their picture taken, and to cooridinate the receiving of the writings and to spell check. That being said drop a comment below or send me an email or a PM on the forum.
On the subject of the forum, it is up and running now so please make use of it. Post your thoughts, ideas, daily events, upcoming events, and anything else that’s on your mind.
Peace,
Timmy
